Connect Global completes new concrete floors in Honduras

CONNECT GLOBAL BELIEVES IN PROVIDING SUSTAINABLE AND TANGIBLE SOLUTIONS TO SOLVABLE PROBLEMS THAT PEOPLE FACE.

THE CONNECT GLOBAL TEAM WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE 3 NEW CONCRETE FLOORS FOR FAMILIES IN HONDURAS.

Dirt floors are very common in many parts of the world. In Honduras, many homes have very simple walls and a roof, but many of the homes are lacking a very basic, important element— a concrete floor.

A 2007 World Bank study* of a Mexican government program to replace dirt floors with cement found that doing so "significantly improves the health of young children."

Among the study's findings: "A complete substitution of dirt floors by cement floors in a house leads to a 78 percent reduction in parasitic infestations, a 49 percent reduction in diarrhea, an 81 percent reduction in anemia and a 36 to 96 percent improvement in cognitive development."

Connect Global is working with a local foundation (AgroLibano) to help identify and develop a strategy to help even more homeowners get their basic needs met as well as introduce new community development initiatives over the next few years.

We are grateful to everyone who supported this trip and our projects this year such as Clean Water, and new Concrete Floors.
